On April 28, 2026, a meeting was held in Chisinau between Ambassador of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Moldova (with residence in Kyiv) Toyly Atayev and State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Moldova Sergei Mikhov and representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This was reported by press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

Trade and economic cooperation figured prominently on the meeting's agenda. A separate section of the talks was devoted to interparliamentary cooperation and the intensification of the work of interparliamentary friendship groups.

The parties emphasized the importance of further developing cultural and humanitarian cooperation, including expanding cultural exchanges and collaboration in scientific and educational fields, which is seen as an important factor in strengthening mutual understanding and friendly ties between the peoples of the two countries.

Following the meeting, the Turkmen side invited representatives of the Republic of Moldova to participate in various international events held in Turkmenistan.
