On April 29, 2026, a meeting was held in Ashgabat between Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Rashid Meredov, and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora of the Republic of Seychelles, Barry Faure, who arrived in Turkmenistan on his first official visit. This was reported by press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
The diplomats noted the importance of strengthening political and diplomatic dialogue between the two states, with mutual high-level visits identified as a key factor in this process.
The heads of the foreign ministries discussed opportunities for developing trade and economic cooperation through the organization of joint business forums, exhibitions, and fairs, as well as the establishment of direct contacts between business communities of the two countries, particularly in the fields of transport, textile industry, and tourism.
The ministers exchanged views on international and regional issues. They also reviewed prospects for cooperation in the cultural and humanitarian sphere, including education, science, and culture. In this context, proposals were made to organize meetings between relevant institutions of the two countries and to hold Days of Culture in Ashgabat and Victoria.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the sides confirmed their interest in further developing constructive and mutually beneficial cooperation between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Seychelles.
