Issues of maternal and child health protection discussed in Ashgabat

On April 30, a meeting was held at the Center of Public Organizations of Turkmenistan between Oguljennet Berdiliyeva, Chairperson of the Central Council of the Women's Union of Turkmenistan, and Jalpa Ratna, Head of the UNICEF Representative Office in Turkmenistan. During the meeting, issues regarding the protection of maternal and child health and the strengthening of family values were discussed. This was reported by the information service of the Women's Union of Turkmenistan.

The Chairperson of the Women's Union spoke about the state policy implemented in the country to develop a healthy generation. In particular, detailed information was provided on the awareness-raising work conducted among young women within the framework of the National Strategy "Healthy Mother — Healthy Child — Healthy Future," and the importance of supporting breastfeeding.

Within the framework of the talks, the parties analyzed new areas of cooperation to ensure early childhood development and provide support to parents. UNICEF specialists participating in the meeting shared international experiences in this field and emphasized the significant role of women's active participation in public life for family well-being.

Jalpa Ratna, Head of the UNICEF Representative Office, highly appreciated the productive nature of the cooperation established with the Women's Union of Turkmenistan. She expressed confidence that joint projects for the health and well-being of children will be successfully continued in the future.
