Construction of the first hybrid solar-wind power plant completed in Gyzylarbat etrap

Deputy Minister of Energy of Turkmenistan Serdar Saparov spoke at the Turkmen-Chinese Business Forum in Ashgabat, where he presented a report on the development of the country’s electric power industry. This was reported by online newspaper «Turkmenistan: Golden Age».

He emphasized that the country’s energy complex currently includes 11 power plants with a total installed capacity of an impressive 7,000 MW. The country has embarked on a confident course toward decarbonization and the development of renewable energy sources. A landmark event for the country will be the commissioning of its first hybrid solar-wind power plant.

“In the Balkan velayat, in Gyzylarbat etrap, a 10 MW hybrid solar-wind power plant has already been prepared for commissioning. The launch of this facility will symbolize the beginning of large-scale implementation of green energy in our sector,” Saparov informed.

The Deputy Minister added that in this area the People’s Republic of China remains one of Turkmenistan’s priority partners in implementing high-tech projects.
