On May 1, Honorable President Serdar Berdimuhamedov held a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers via a digital system. During the meeting, the results of the country's socio-economic development for January — April 2026 were summarized. According to the report of Deputy Prime Minister Hojamyrat Geldimyradov, the growth of the gross domestic product reached 6.3 percent during the reporting period. This was reported by the electronic newspaper "Turkmenistan: Golden Age."
Positive indicators were recorded in almost all sectors of the economy. Specifically, growth in the transport and communications sector reached 10.3 percent, in the services sector — 8.4 percent, and in the trade sector — 7.9 percent. Growth rates were also maintained in the industrial, construction, and agricultural sectors. Compared to the same period last year, the total volume of produced goods increased by 10.4 percent.
Financial indicators were also characterized by stability. Retail trade turnover increased by 9.9 percent, and foreign trade turnover by 9.2 percent. The revenue side of the state budget was implemented exceeding the plan. At the same time, all state-established social payments — salaries, pensions, state benefits, and student scholarships — were financed on time and in full.
Investment activity also remains at a high level. The volume of utilized capital investments in January — April increased by 5 percent compared to last year. In addition, within the framework of the "National Rural Program," the construction of buildings and facilities continues according to plan in various parts of the country.
After listening to the report, the Honorable President emphasized the importance of improving all areas of the economy. Noting the necessity of successfully implementing the tasks set for 2026, the Head of State instructed the Deputy Prime Minister to maintain stable GDP growth and further improve the operation of the financial and banking system.
