Turkmenistan's transport and communications complex demonstrates high growth rates

On May 1, Honorable President Serdar Berdimuhamedov held a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers via a digital system. During the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Batyr Annayev reported on the results of work performed in the transport and communication structures for January — April 2026. During the reporting period, the growth rate of services provided in this complex reached 113.8 percent. This was reported by the electronic newspaper "Turkmenistan: Golden Age."

Stable growth was recorded in the field of freight and passenger transportation by all modes of transport. In particular, compared to the same period last year, freight transport increased by 101 percent, and passenger transport by 102.7 percent. The highest indicator by sector was recorded in the Ministry of Automobile Transport, reaching 124.2 percent. Additionally, the "Turkmenhowayollary" Agency and the communications sector achieved growth of 116.8 and 114.3 percent, respectively.

In the railway, sea, and river transport sectors, plans were also exceeded. The growth of railway services amounted to 106.5 percent, and sea and river transportation to 106.3 percent. These figures prove the growing capacity of the country's transport system and its strengthening role in international cooperation.

After listening to the report, the Honorable President emphasized the particular importance of the transport and communications complex for the national economy. The Head of State instructed the Deputy Prime Minister to further expand the country's transit capabilities, increase the volume of international freight traffic, and consistently modernize the material and technical base of the industry.
