Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Tanryguly Atahallyyev reported at a government meeting held on May 1 on the results of activities for January–April of the current year, as well as on the progress of seasonal agricultural campaigns in the country’s regions. This was reported by online newspaper «Turkmenistan: Golden age».

As noted, the growth rate of agricultural production amounted to 107.5 percent compared to the same period of the previous year.

It was also reported that inter-row cultivation, weeding, and thinning of seedlings are currently being carried out in cotton fields. Care of wheat fields is ongoing, and preparations for the grain harvest campaign are underway.

The Deputy Prime Minister also reported on measures being implemented to organize horse breeding and equestrian sports events planned for this year both in Turkmenistan and abroad.

As noted, preparations are currently underway for participation in equestrian competitions and the beauty contest «Pearl of the East», as well as in the conference «Akhal-Teke horse – a symbol of the friendship of peoples», which will be held in Tashkent (Republic of Uzbekistan).

After hearing the report, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized that increasing the volume and improving the quality of agricultural production should remain in constant focus.

Continuing the meeting, the Head of State noted that international events are being held abroad on the occasion of this year’s motto, «Independent, neutral Turkmenistan – the homeland of purposeful winged horses». In particular, the international event «Pearl of the East» will be held in Tashkent on May 9–10, aimed at enhancing the fame of the country’s «heavenly horses». In this regard, the President instructed the Deputy Prime Minister to take necessary measures to ensure the participation of Turkmen horse breeders and Akhal-Teke horses in the upcoming equestrian competitions and beauty contest.
