Turkmenistan prepares to participate in a number of international events in May

In order to further develop Turkmenistan’s strategic cooperation with the Russian Federation, it is planned to organize a visit of a Turkmen delegation headed by the Hero-Arkadag to the city of Kazan (Republic of Tatarstan), where a number of important international events will take place. Among them is the annual International Economic Forum «Russia – Islamic World: KazanForum». In addition, the exhibitions and conferences «Russia–Islamic World Cooperation EXPO». the «International Real Estate Market» exhibition, the international trade fair «Kazan Halal Market» and the «Modest Fashion Day» festival are scheduled.

This was reported by Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan held via digital system on May 1.

Reporting on the major international events planned to be held abroad in May with Turkmenistan’s participation, Rashid Meredov noted that sports competitions would also be organized, which are of particular significance in the year held under the motto «Independent, neutral Turkmenistan – homeland of purposeful winged horses».

The Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister also reported that the Royal Family plans to hold the Windsor International Horse Show and equestrian competitions in London (United Kingdom). Participation of a Turkmen delegation in these events is envisaged.

Currently, work is underway to organize, within the framework of these events, an exhibition dedicated to Akhal-Teke horses and the traditions of Turkmen horse breeding.

As is known, holding these equestrian games and competitions in the significant year dedicated to the Akhal-Teke horses is of special importance.

In addition, with the support of the President of Turkmenistan and the Hero-Arkadag, participation of a Turkmen delegation in the 13th session of the World Urban Forum, to be held in Baku, is planned. The event will be organized by the UN Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) jointly with the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

After hearing the report, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted that independent, permanently neutral Turkmenistan is implementing a foreign policy aimed at ensuring universal well-being. In this regard, the Head of State instructed the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs to continue efforts to strengthen fruitful cooperation with countries around the world in trade and economic, cultural and humanitarian, as well as scientific and educational spheres, and to expand interaction with reputable international organizations.

The Head of State emphasized the importance of organizing the participation of representatives of Turkmenistan in the events to be held on May 13–14 in Kazan, Russian Federation. The need to ensure proper preparation for the upcoming working visit of the Turkmen delegation to London (United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland) on May 16–17, within the framework of the year’s motto, was also noted. In addition, he stressed the necessity of carrying out the required work to ensure the participation of the country’s delegation in the World Urban Forum to be held on May 17–22 in Baku, Republic of Azerbaijan, issuing relevant instructions.
