A new multimodal transport corridor has been launched through Turkmenistan, which provides faster delivery of goods from China to Afghanistan. This was reported by the press service of the open-type joint-stock company «Shipbuilding and ship repair plant «Balkan».
According to the updated scheme, containers cover about 7,400 km in an average of 30 days, which allows to optimize terms and increase logistics efficiency.
The route envisages the shipment of goods by rail from China via the Altynkol station in Kazakhstan with subsequent transit to Uzbekistan to the logistics center of Bukhara JSC «Uztemirýulkonteýner». At this stage, containers are transferred to road transport.
Further, the cargo passes through the territory of Turkmenistan and is delivered to the city of Herat in Afghanistan, forming a single multimodal route using railway and road infrastructure.
