On May 7, 2026, an Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Japan, Atadurdy Bayramov, met with Takuma Miyaji, Chairman of the Committee on the Environment of the House of Representatives of the Parliament of Japan and a member of the Japan–Turkmen Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group. This was reported by a press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

During the talks, the Ambassador Bayramov expressed gratitude to the Japanese side for its personal contribution and efforts aimed at the comprehensive development of Turkmen–Japanese cooperation.

The parties discussed issues related to expanding the potential of inter-parliamentary diplomacy, in particular elevating cooperation between political parties to a new level. In this regard, the importance of establishing direct contacts between a Democratic Party of Turkmenistan and a Liberal Democratic Party of Japan was emphasized.

In addition, views were exchanged on promoting practical cooperation in mutually beneficial areas such as environmental protection, agriculture, and horse breeding.
