On May 8, at an off-site meeting of the Government, Deputy Chairman of Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov reported on preparations for international events to be held in National Tourist Zone «Awaza» in 2026. This was reported by online newspaper «Turkmenistan: Golden age».
As noted, on October 8, 2026, a Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of the Central Asian countries and the Republic of Azerbaijan will take place. On October 9, the next meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Commonwealth of Independent States is scheduled.
In October of this year, the International Women’s Dialogue titled «The Role of Women in Maintaining Peace and Achieving Sustainable Development» will be held in «Awaza».
In addition, an international conference entitled «Demographic Processes and Sustainable Development: Contemporary Challenges and International Experience» is planned in «Awaza».
On October 7 of this year, a seminar of the Interparliamentary Assembly of the CIS Member States titled «Ensuring Universal Access to Healthcare Services and the Sustainable Development Goals» is also scheduled to be organized there.
Moreover, on October 7, a meeting at the level of ministers of the Caspian littoral states is planned in «Awaza» to discuss issues related to the ecology of the Caspian Sea.
In preparation for the Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of the Central Asian countries and the Republic of Azerbaijan and the regular meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of State, meetings of the foreign ministers of the participating countries in these formats are also envisaged.
Having heard the report, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized the importance of thorough preparation and ensuring a high organizational level of the international events to be held in the National Tourist Zone «Awaza».
