Honorable President Serdar Berdimuhamedov held a visiting meeting of Cabinet of Ministers in Balkan velayat on May 8. During the meeting, Vice Prime Minister Batyr Annayev reported on the work performed in the transport and communication complex of the region. This was reported by online newspaper «Turkmenistan: Golden age».

As noted, high results were achieved in freight and passenger transportation in the velayat during the first four months of this year. In the communication system, mobile communication showed a growth of 15.4 percent, while internet services grew by 13 percent. Also, in accordance with the «National Village Program», 185 kilometers of fiber-optic cable were laid in the region.

The material and technical base of automobile and air transport has been modernized. A new bus station and a modern driving training ground were launched in the city of Balkanabat. The material and equipment facilities of the international airports of Turkmenbashy and Balkanabat cities are being strengthened, and their transit capacity is being consistently increased.

Great progress has been achieved in the maritime transport system. At the «Balkan» shipbuilding and repairing yard, the dry cargo ship named «Gadamly» was built and commissioned for the first time in our country. This historical event shows that the capabilities of the Turkmenbashy International Sea Port have reached a world-class level.

After hearing the report, the Head of State emphasized the importance of fully utilizing the logistical potential of the region. The Honorable President instructed the Vice Prime Minister to improve the operation of airports and the sea port, as well as to consistently continue the implementation of shipbuilding projects.
