On May 11, 2026, an official dinner was held at the residence of a Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea, organized by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Cho Hyun for the ambassadors of the Central Asian states accredited to the Republic of Korea. An Ambassador of Turkmenistan, Begench Durdyyev, took part in the event. This was reported by a press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

The main focus of the detailed exchange of views was on practical issues related to the preparation for the first «Central Asia – Republic of Korea» Summit, scheduled to be held on September 16–17 of this year in Seoul.

During the meeting, the head of the Korean Foreign Ministry noted the steady positive dynamics of cooperation in the political, economic, and cultural-humanitarian spheres, expressing confidence that the upcoming September Summit would elevate interregional partnership to a qualitatively new level.

Within the framework of the bilateral agenda, the Ambassador of Turkmenistan emphasized the high level of interstate dialogue. Clear evidence of this is the steady growth of trade turnover and the expansion of practical cooperation in key areas.

The sides also paid particular attention to intensifying academic exchanges, organizing mutual Culture Days, and expanding Korean language study programs in Turkmenistan as key factors in bringing the two nations closer together.
