Turkmenistan takes part in the Second International Legal Forum of the CIS in Minsk

On May 13, 2026, the Second International Legal Forum «International Legal Dialogue in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS): Traditions of Cooperation and Response to the Challenges of the Time» opened at the CIS headquarters in Minsk. Around 70 delegates from CIS countries, including Turkmenistan, are participating in the forum, according to the website of the CIS Executive Committee.

Speaking at the opening, the First Deputy Secretary General of the CIS Igor Petrishenko emphasized the unique nature of the Commonwealth’s treaty and legal framework, which includes more than 7,000 documents. He noted that the CIS consistently adheres to the principle of the rule of international law and opposes attempts to replace generally accepted norms with unilateral measures and sanctions.

The forum program includes a plenary session and thematic panel discussions. Participants are discussing aspects of contemporary international legal policy, legal dimensions of regional integration, and mechanisms for dispute resolution.

The dialogue is aimed at consolidating the efforts of integration associations to protect the international legal system and ensure the good-faith fulfillment of interstate obligations.
