Turkmenistan prepares for the meeting of the Heads of Government of the Commonwealth of Independent States in Ashgabat

At the regular meeting of a Cabinet of Ministers held on May 15, a Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov informed about preparations for the upcoming meeting of the Heads of Government of the Commonwealth of Independent States.

As is known, Turkmenistan holds the CIS chairmanship this year. Within this framework, meetings of various councils and commissions have been held since the beginning of the year. In this context, the next meeting of the CIS Heads of Government is scheduled to be held in Ashgabat on May 22. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, together with the CIS Executive Committee, is carrying out the necessary preparatory work.

According to the draft program, on May 22 bilateral meetings are planned between the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the heads of delegations participating in the CIS meeting. Bilateral meetings between delegation leaders are also expected.

On the same day, meetings of delegation heads within relevant structures will take place, during which a number of important issues will be discussed and documents signed upon conclusion.

Summing up, the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted that neutral Turkmenistan consistently develops cooperation with the CIS in the trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian spheres. In this regard, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs was instructed to ensure thorough preparation and a high organizational level for the upcoming meeting of the CIS Heads of Government.
