A delegation of Turkmenistan led by a Chairperson of the Mejlis, Dunyagozel Gulmanova, took part in a meeting of the Council of the Interparliamentary Assembly of the Commonwealth of Independent States in Saint Petersburg. This was reported by the press service of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan.
During the meeting, the Turkmen side emphasized the importance of initiatives aimed at ensuring peace, security, and sustainable development at the global and regional levels, including the creation of energy corridors and transport-transit routes.
The Turkmen side expressed confidence that the Commonwealth not only forms a broad geographical space but also plays a key role in developing centuries-old historical, political, economic, and cultural-humanitarian ties between countries, serving as an open platform for long-term, multifaceted cooperation.
Following the meeting, it was noted that the issues considered open broad opportunities for the exchange of legislative and parliamentary experience, strengthening friendly relations between peoples, and discussing promising areas of cooperation among CIS member states.
During her visit to Russia, Dunyagozel Gulmanova also held meetings with a Chairperson of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Valentina Matviyenko, and a Chairperson of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, Natalia Kochanova.
