An Ambassador of Turkmenistan takes part in a working meeting with a Minister of Intellectual Property of South Korea

On May 20, 2026, a working meeting was held in Seoul between a Minister of Intellectual Property of the Republic of Korea, Kim Yong-sun, and the Ambassadors of Central Asian countries, in which the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Korea, Begench Durdyyev, also participated. This was reported by a press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

Minister Kim Yong-sun presented Korea’s experience in developing the intellectual property sector as a foundation of the country’s economic growth, noting that the Republic of Korea ranks 4th in the world in terms of patent applications. In his view, combining the natural resources of Central Asia with Korean technologies and experience in this field opens up broad opportunities for mutually beneficial cooperation. The meeting was described as «the first step toward creating a Silk Road of intellectual property».

The Ambassador of Turkmenistan expressed gratitude to the Korean side for organizing the meeting and highly appreciated the importance of the upcoming Summit, noting that Turkmenistan attaches primary importance to it. Regarding the draft document, he stated that the Korean initiative to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the field of intellectual property was positively received by the Turkmen side.
