Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Tangryguly Atahallyyev reported on the situation in the agricultural sector and ongoing seasonal campaigns in velayats at the government meeting held on May 22. This was reported by an online newspaper «Turkmenistan: Golden Age».

As reported, inter-row cultivation, weeding, thinning, fertilization with mineral fertilizers, and irrigation are currently being carried out in cotton fields. Rice sowing is underway in Dashoguz velayat, while preparations for rice planting are ongoing in Lebap velayat.

In order to harvest the wheat crop in the shortest possible time, the Deputy Prime Minister requested that the President of Turkmenistan set the dates for seminars in the regions with the participation of experienced farmers, specialists, scientists, and machine operators, as well as the official start of the grain harvest campaign with the blessing of respected elders.

After hearing the report, the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized that comprehensive development of the agricultural sector should remain a constant priority and instructed that cotton fields continue to be cared for in accordance with agronomic standards.

Addressing members of the Cabinet of Ministers, the President of Turkmenistan noted that a rich wheat harvest has been grown this year across the country’s regions. Accordingly, he gave his blessing to begin the grain harvesting campaign on June 3 in the Ahal, Lebap, and Mary velayats, and on June 10 in the Balkan and Dashoguz velayats. He also asked respected elders to give the ceremonial start of the harvest with the words «bismilla!». Arkadagly Hero Serdar wished farmers and all rural workers great success in their work.
