On May 26, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov held a meeting with UN Secretary-General António Guterres. The parties discussed issues of strengthening bilateral strategic cooperation and regional security. This was reported by the Information Service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

The core of the meeting centered on further activating Turkmenistan's world-class initiatives to promote the values of neutrality.

During the conversation, the importance of the new resolution dedicated to the role of the policy of neutrality, recently adopted by the UN, was emphasized. António Guterres noted that this document was adopted in a very timely manner and expressed gratitude to Turkmenistan for its leadership in ensuring international peace.

Furthermore, the parties supported the new proposals put forward by the Turkmen side to establish the University of Peace and Neutrality, as well as the Mediation Chamber for Peace under the auspices of the UN.
