Turkmenistan and Cuba consider holding joint economic events

On 27 May 2026, on the sidelines of the high-level open debates of the United Nations Security Council, a meeting was held between a Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Rashid Meredov, and a Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cuba, Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, according to a press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

During the talks, the sides discussed the current state and prospects for the development of Turkmen–Cuban cooperation in the political-diplomatic, trade-economic, and cultural-humanitarian spheres. Particular attention was given to cooperation between the two countries within international organizations, primarily the United Nations.

The ministers emphasized the importance of maintaining regular inter-ministerial dialogue and noted significant potential for expanding cooperation in such areas as healthcare, agriculture, sports, and tourism.

They also underlined the importance of strengthening contacts between the business communities of the two countries and considered the possibility of organizing joint economic events. In this context, the expansion of the legal and contractual framework for trade and economic cooperation was highlighted as appropriate.
