President Serdar Berdimuhamedov signed a Decree on May 30 conferring the honorary title «Türkmenistanyň at gazanan halyçysy» («Honoured Carpet Weaver of Turkmenistan») upon 15 master craftswomen. This was reported by an online newspaper «Turkmenistan: Golden age».

The honorary title was awarded in recognition of outstanding contributions to the development of the national art of carpet weaving, the promotion of Turkmen carpets' unrivalled beauty and craftsmanship on the world stage, and the creation of artistic carpet ornaments. The Decree also took into account the recipients' years of dedicated and selfless work, their professionalism, and was timed to coincide with the Turkmen Carpet Holiday.
