An International Conference on Environmental Well-Being Held in Ashgabat
On June 5, the Building of the Country's Agricultural Complex hosted the International Scientific and Practical Conference titled "Environmental Well-Being and International Cooperation in the Year of «Independent Neutral Turkmenistan – the homeland of purposeful winged horses». This was reported by an online newspaper «Turkmenistan: Golden age». The event was timed to coincide with World Environment Day, vividly demonstrating our Motherland's significant contribution to the global community's efforts to ensure global environmental well-being. At the beginning of the plenary session, the welcoming Address of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov to environmental protection workers and the people of Turkmenistan was read aloud. In their speeches, the participants emphasized the importance of the initiatives and proposals put forward by the Head of the Turkmen State at the Regional Environmental Forum held in Astana in April of this year. This serves as a clear confirmation of our country's commitment to international cooperation in ensuring global environmental well-being. The conference was then addressed by Dmitry Shlapachenko, the UN Resident Coordinator in Turkmenistan; Narine Sahakyan, the Resident Representative of the UN Development Programme (UNDP) in Turkmenistan; and Jalpa Ratna, the Representative of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) in Turkmenistan. It was noted that World Environment Day is an important event for all mankind, reminding us of our shared responsibility to care for nature and protect the environment. Today, the issues of climate change and mitigating its consequences rank among the most crucial global challenges. Furthermore, the state policy consistently pursued by Turkmenistan and its initiatives in this field are highly commendable.
