National legislative framework improved in Turkmenistan over five months
At the Government meeting held via a digital system under the chairmanship of the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, the results of the legislative work carried out by the country's parliament in January–May 2026 were summarized. During the meeting, Chairperson of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan Dunyagozel Gulmanova provided detailed information on the measures implemented and legal documents adopted over the past five months. This was reported by the electronic newspaper "Turkmenistan: Golden Age". During the reporting period, productive work was carried out to modernize the country's legal framework, resulting in the adoption of 6 Laws of Turkmenistan and 10 resolutions of the Mejlis. The amendments and additions introduced to the existing legislation covered important areas such as the protection of citizens' rights, industrial safety, financial and accounting reporting, licensing, highways, environmental protection, and increasing the efficiency of migration policy. Active steps were also taken toward developing interparliamentary relations and international cooperation. During the reporting period, credentials were accepted from the newly appointed Ambassadors Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Chad, the Republic of Indonesia, the Argentine Republic, and the Arab Republic of Egypt. Furthermore, 13 bilateral meetings were organized with representatives of foreign states and parliaments, participation was secured in 51 training seminars jointly organized with international organizations, and 13 working visits were made to foreign countries to study international practices. In addition, the Turkmen delegation participated in several international events to promote the country's peaceful policy worldwide through parliamentary diplomacy. In particular, the delegation actively participated in the Second Asian Women's Forum and the meeting of the Dialogue of Women Leaders of Central Asian Countries and the Republic of Azerbaijan held in Bukhara, Uzbekistan, as well as the 60th plenary session of the Interparliamentary Assembly of the CIS and the regular meeting of its Council in Saint Petersburg, Russian Federation. After hearing the report, the Honorable President re-emphasized the importance of systematically strengthening and improving the legislative framework of our state.
