Stable growth rates achieved in the trade and entrepreneurship sector of Turkmenistan over five months
At the Government meeting held via a digital system under the chairmanship of the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, the results of the work performed in the nation's trade and textile complexes, as well as in the entrepreneurship sector for January–May 2026, were reviewed. During the meeting, Vice-Prime Minister Nokerguly Atagulyyev reported on the performance indicators of the structures under his supervision. This was reported by the electronic newspaper "Turkmenistan: Golden Age". During the reporting period, the growth rate of trade turnover for the Ministry of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations, compared to the same period last year, reached 109.6%, while the growth rate of manufactured products stood at 100.8%. For the Ministry of Textile Industry, a 106.3% growth was achieved in output compared to the corresponding period of last year. In particular, a growth rate of 102.7% was recorded in the production of cotton yarn, 101.2% in cotton fabrics, and 103.6% in leather goods. The production plan for the "Türkmenhaly" State Association was fulfilled by 107%. Within the framework of the operations of financial and trade structures, the State Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange held 120 auction sessions over the 5 months, registering 12,543 contracts. The growth rate of work performed by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry was equal to 109.1%, with 11 exhibitions and 5 conferences organized during the reporting period. Concurrently, within the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, the growth rate for agricultural and food production reached 107.2%, while the growth rate for industrial goods production stood at 107.3%. After hearing the report, the Honorable President noted the importance of keeping the uninterrupted supply of food and other essential commodities to the country's markets and retail outlets under strict control. The Head of State drew attention to the necessity of continuing activities to systematically modernize production at the enterprises of the complex and gave specific instructions to the Vice-Prime Minister to expand the volume, diversify the variety, and further enhance the quality of textile products manufactured in the country.
