In Brussels, at the Egmont Palace, a working breakfast was held between Maxim Prévot, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Belgium, and the ambassadors of the Central Asian states and Mongolia. The meeting was organized at the initiative of the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Belgium, Sapar Palvanov, under the coordination of the Turkmen Embassy in conjunction with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belgium. This was reported by a press service of the Turkmen Embassy in Belgium.
Maxim Prévot noted that Belgium views the countries of Central Asia and Mongolia as important and promising partners, emphasizing the region's high economic growth and demographic potential.
In his speech, the Ambassador of Turkmenistan presented the region as a dynamic connecting space between the East and the West. According to him, the combined GDP of the Central Asian countries has exceeded 500 billion USD, intra-regional trade has nearly doubled over the past five years—reaching 12.3 billion USD in 2025—and the total population of the six nations (the five Central Asian countries and Mongolia) stands at around 86 million people, with more than half under the age of 30.
In the context of transport, the Ambassador highlighted the growth of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route and the potential of the Turkmenbashi International Seaport, pointing to the Port of Antwerp-Bruges as a natural Western partner for the Trans-Caspian axis.
The Ambassadors of the other Central Asian states and Mongolia also presented their respective national priorities and cooperation proposals for partnership with Belgium and the European Union. Following the meeting, the parties reaffirmed their shared interest in further developing dialogue at both regional and bilateral levels.
