New Ambassador of Finland to Turkmenistan officially assumes duties

A Speaker of a Mejlis of Turkmenistan, Dunyagozel Gulmanova, received the credentials of the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Finland, Maria Agren. This was reported by an online newspaper «Turkmenistan: Golden age».

During the meeting, the diplomat was briefed on the main directions of Turkmenistan's domestic policy, as well as its foreign policy strategy, the priority of which is the development of equal international cooperation in the interests of universal peace, security and prosperity.

The talks also included a substantive exchange of views on a wide range of issues relating to Turkmen-Finnish relations, including in multilateral formats — primarily within the United Nations and other authoritative international organizations.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Maria Agren assured that she would make every effort to further strengthen interstate cooperation built on the basis of mutual trust and respect.

The new Finnish Ambassador also presented copies of her credentials to a Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Mahri Bashimova.

The parties discussed prospects for developing bilateral cooperation in the political-diplomatic, trade-economic, and cultural-humanitarian spheres. Mutual interest was noted in expanding cooperation both on a bilateral basis and within international organizations, including the EU.
