A meeting between Turkmenistan's Ambassador Muhammetniyaz Mashalov and the Director General of Malaysia's Customs Department Amran Ahmad took place in Malaysia. During the talks, the parties discussed the state of bilateral relations, with special attention paid to prospects for cooperation in the trade, economic and customs spheres. This was reported by an International Information Center of Turkmenistan.
The Turkmen side proposed stepping up the exchange of professional experience between the customs services of the two countries and accelerating work on a draft Memorandum of Understanding in the customs sphere. The possibility of signing the document during the upcoming official visit of the Prime Minister of Malaysia to Turkmenistan was also considered.
Representatives of Malaysia noted that the draft Memorandum is currently under review by the relevant legal bodies and agencies of the country. The Malaysian side confirmed its readiness to promptly prepare a response on the document, expressing interest in the further development of bilateral dialogue.
