Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim Arrives in Ashgabat on an official visit

Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has arrived in Turkmenistan on an official visit.

The distinguished guest was met by official representatives at the Ashgabat International Airport. In accordance with the established tradition of hospitality, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim was given a warm welcome.

From the airport, the motorcade of the distinguished guest proceeded to the residence designated for the duration of the visit.

Today, relations between Turkmenistan and Malaysia, based on the principles of equality, mutual respect and mutual benefit, are reaching new frontiers. Multifaceted bilateral cooperation is of a constructive nature. A clear confirmation of this is also the regular mutual support of the initiatives of both countries within the framework of major international organizations, in particular, the United Nations.

A new chapter in the history of interstate dialogue was written by the official visit of the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov to Malaysia in 2024, which marked an important milestone in the development of productive cooperation.

One of the strategic areas of bilateral economic interaction is the oil and gas sector. The long-standing effective work of the Malaysian company «PETRONAS» in Turkmenistan serves as a vivid example of long-term and reliable investment partnership. The extensive experience accumulated in the course of joint activities in the Caspian Sea now creates a solid foundation for expanding cooperation in the field of deep processing of hydrocarbon resources, petrochemicals and the introduction of advanced environmentally friendly technologies into production.

At the same time, following the agreements reached at the highest level, Turkmenistan and Malaysia, in addition to cooperation in the fuel and energy sector, are also aimed at expanding the range of partnership in other areas. In particular, the parties are focusing on such promising areas as the transport and logistics sector, high technologies and agriculture.

Cultural and humanitarian ties are also an integral component of Turkmen-Malaysian relations. In this context, a special place is given to cooperation in the field of science and education.

Thus, the upcoming high-level talks in Ashgabat and the agreements reached during them will be an important step towards the further development of fruitful cooperation between the two friendly countries across a wide range of areas.
