In Ashgabat, a meeting was held between a Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Ahmet Gurbanov and State Secretary of the Ministry of Economy of the Slovak Republic Vladimir Shimoniak and an Ambassador of Slovakia to Turkmenistan (resident in Tashkent) Viktor Boretsky. This was reported by a press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
An exchange of views took place on the outcomes of the first session of the Joint Turkmen-Slovak Commission on Economic Cooperation, held the day before in Ashgabat. It was noted that the work of the Commission opens up significant opportunities for expanding trade and economic interaction and deepening partnership in priority areas.
Mutual interest was confirmed in the further development of political dialogue and the intensification of high-level contacts, including exchanges of visits between the foreign policy and economic agencies of the two countries.
Also discussed were the prospects for expanding trade and economic cooperation in such areas as transport, energy, information technologies, agriculture and others. Special attention was paid to the intensification of contacts between business circles, the organization of business missions and the participation of Slovak companies in exhibitions and forums in Turkmenistan.
