A President of Turkmenistan held negotiations with Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov received Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Jamshid Khodjaev on June 20, who had arrived in the country on a visit. This was reported by the online newspaper "Turkmenistan: The Golden Age."

As was noted, Turkmenistan attaches special importance to the further strengthening and expansion of friendly and good-neighborly relations with the Republic of Uzbekistan, based on the principles of equality, mutual respect and trust. Having stated with satisfaction that trade and economic ties between the two countries are developing steadily, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov named energy, transport, agriculture and trade, as well as the joint implementation of large infrastructure and investment projects, among the promising vectors of partnership.

The role of the Intergovernmental Commission in coordinating the efforts of the parties in all areas of cooperation and in developing appropriate measures to achieve the set goals was particularly noted. As was emphasized, the opening of the Turkmen-Uzbek Border Trade Zone in November of last year gave an additional impetus to increasing mutual trade turnover indicators.

The Head of State also placed emphasis on the importance of strengthening cultural and humanitarian ties, expressing confidence that the organization of various events in the two countries and the regular holding of meetings between figures of culture and the arts will contribute to the development of cooperation in this sphere.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties confirmed the commitment of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan to the further strengthening and expansion of strategic partnership for the benefit of the two countries and their fraternal peoples, conveying their best wishes to one another.
