A Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov on June 20 reported at a government meeting on the preparations for the state visit of the President of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Azerbaijan. This was reported by an online newspaper "Turkmenistan: Golden Age."

As was reported, one of the priority directions of the foreign policy implemented by the head of state is the strengthening of the bonds of good neighbourliness and mutually beneficial cooperation with neighbouring countries, among which Azerbaijan should be noted.

Speaking about trade and economic partnership, the Minister of Foreign Affairs noted that the volume of foreign trade turnover between the two countries is constantly increasing. At the same time, cooperation is being carried out in such areas as energy, the transport and logistics sector, communications, agriculture, industry, the textile and food industries, as well as other spheres.

Cultural and humanitarian relations between Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan are developing actively. With the participation of representatives of the two countries, various events are regularly held in the fields of culture, art, science, education, sport and other areas.

In this regard, the minister reported on the progress of preparations for the state visit of the head of Turkmenistan to Azerbaijan, the outcomes of which will contribute to the further development of interaction between the two fraternal countries and bring it to a qualitatively new level.

Having heard the report, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted that Azerbaijan, with which friendly relations are maintained, is among the states that are close partners of our country. With the aim of further developing bilateral cooperation, the head of Turkmenistan addressed a number of specific instructions to the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs on preparations for the upcoming state visit to the Republic of Azerbaijan.
