Presidents of Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan highly appraise results of high-level talks

As part of the state visit of President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov to the Republic of Azerbaijan, the President of Turkmenistan and President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev made a statement to the media representatives. During the meeting, the parties highly praised the outcomes of the high-level one-on-one and expanded format talks, and outlined future areas of bilateral cooperation. This was reported by the state news agency "Turkmenistan Today".

In his speech, President Ilham Aliyev drew attention to the historical, cultural, and spiritual ties of Turkmen-Azerbaijani relations, noting that the mosque being built in the city of Fuzuli on the initiative of the National Leader of the Turkmen folk is a clear symbol of friendship. He also emphasized the importance of regularly organized Days of Culture and relations between sister cities. The Azerbaijani Leader expressed his gratitude to Turkmenistan for its support in regional cooperation and confirmed that they will always support the country's policy of Neutrality.

Cooperation between the two countries in the transport-logistic and energy sectors, which are of a strategic nature, became one of the main topics of the negotiations. The parties agreed to cooperate closely on creating new transit transport corridors along the East-West route and effectively utilizing the rich potential in the energy sector. In addition, it is planned to deepen cooperation in such areas as trade and economics, chemical, and textile industries.

The Honorable President Serdar Berdimuhamedov expressed his gratitude to the Azerbaijani side for their hospitality and confirmed that the two states will continue their active relations within international organizations and the five-party cooperation in the Caspian Sea. The Head of State noted that the large package of documents signed following the visit would pave a wide way for future developments, and expressed his gratitude to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan for his tremendous personal contribution to strengthening bilateral relations, particularly for the oil tanker "Dostluk".
