Within the framework of the state visit of the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov to Azerbaijan on June 22, 2026, a signing ceremony for bilateral documents in the customs sphere was held. This was reported on the website of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan.
Following the high-level negotiations, the parties signed the Technical Specifications for the exchange of preliminary information on goods and the Protocol on Cooperation in the Field of Customs Statistics of Mutual Trade.
The Technical Specifications provide for the creation of a mechanism for the systematic exchange of advance information on moved goods. This will accelerate customs procedures, reduce cargo clearance time, and increase the transparency of foreign trade operations.
The Protocol on Cooperation in the Field of Customs Statistics aims to improve the exchange of statistical data between the two countries and increase the reliability of accounting in mutual trade. The implementation of the signed agreements is expected to contribute to the growth of mutual trade turnover and strengthen the transit potential of the region.
