On June 25, 2026, a telephone conversation took place between the National Leader of the Turkmen People, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev. This was reported by the online newspaper "Turkmenistan: The Golden Age."

Warmly greeting each other, Hero-Arkadag and the head of the neighboring state noted with satisfaction the high level of interaction between the two countries at the present stage. In this context, President Ilham Aliyev emphasized the significance of the recent state visit to Azerbaijan by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov.

This visit marked an important milestone in the history of the traditionally friendly bilateral relations, the leader of the brotherly state noted, expressing confidence that the agreements reached during the negotiations would give additional impetus to the further development of mutually beneficial cooperation.

Thanking him for the kind words, the National Leader of the Turkmen People noted that Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan, as neighboring countries, build their partnership on the principles of mutual respect. At the same time, it was noted with satisfaction that interstate relations are currently developing steadily.

Expressing gratitude for the gift of the new tanker "Dostluk" to the Turkmen people, the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty expressed confidence that the operation of the vessel would have a positive impact not only on the expansion of productive cooperation between Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan, but also on the strengthening of relations with other states of the Caspian region.

In addition, the significance of the traditionally productive relations in such areas as culture, science, education and sports was noted. It was also noted with satisfaction that the high-level holding of the Days of Culture of Turkmenistan in the cities of Baku and Ganja, as well as the Days of Culture of Azerbaijan in the cities of Ashgabat and Arkadag, is yet another testament to the shared historical roots of the two peoples, tracing back to the Oghuz.

Speaking about the ongoing preparations for the international exhibition "Ene – tebigat" to be held in our country from October 19 to November 30 of this year, organized by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Foundation for Assistance to Children in Need of Guardianship, the National Leader of the Turkmen People noted that this event would contribute to strengthening cooperation between the two Foundations.

An exchange of views also took place on priority issues of bilateral relations.

Hero-Arkadag wished the friendly people of Azerbaijan well-being and prosperity. In turn, the head of the neighboring country extended his best wishes to the brotherly people of Turkmenistan.
