Next Round of Turkmen-Kazakh Interministerial consultations held in Ashgabat

Political consultations at the level of Foreign Ministers of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Kazakhstan took place on July 1 at the building of Turkmenistan's foreign policy agency. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

Within the political and diplomatic segment, a high dynamic of bilateral contacts, set by the heads of the two states, was noted. Special attention was paid to intensifying interparliamentary ties as the most important instrument of public diplomacy. The ministers gave high marks to the mechanism of regular consultations between the foreign ministries, which allows for prompt coordination of positions.

Focusing on trade and economic partnership, the parties outlined steps to increase the volume of mutual trade and diversify the structure of trade turnover. Among the priorities identified were the energy sector and transit-transport cooperation aimed at maximizing the use of the region's transit potential. The ministers also spoke in favor of stimulating cross-border cooperation, contributing to the strengthening of direct ties between the regions of the two countries.

The sphere of cultural and humanitarian ties was considered through the prism of deepening traditional contacts in the fields of culture, science and education. The interlocutors emphasized the importance of expanding partnership in the information sphere. Prospects for cooperation in the fields of healthcare and sports were separately outlined.

An important topic of the negotiations was cooperation in the water sector and on climate change issues. The parties discussed in detail cooperation within the framework of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea (IFAS) and compared positions on Caspian issues.

On the same day, a ceremony took place for the signing of the Cooperation Program between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2027-2028. This document is aimed at systematizing interdepartmental cooperation and consolidating key areas of partnership.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan was also officially handed the original of the Treaty between the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Republic of Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan on Friendship, Good-Neighborliness and Cooperation for the Development of Central Asia in the 21st Century, signed by the President of Turkmenistan.
