Turkmen-Japanese political consultations held in Ashgabat

On July 3, political consultations between the foreign affairs agencies of Turkmenistan and Japan were held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

The Turkmen side at the talks was headed by Deputy Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Myakhri Byashimova, and the Japanese delegation by Special Representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan for Central Asian Affairs Ishikawa Masaki.

During the meeting, the diplomats discussed in detail a wide range of issues related to bilateral and regional cooperation. The foundation for successful partnership is a regular, trust-based dialogue at the highest state and government levels, which sets the direction for the entire complex of Japanese-Turkmen relations.

The parties expressed mutual readiness to further strengthen coordination of actions within the framework of authoritative international structures, primarily the UN, in order to maintain global peace and ensure sustainable development.

The interlocutors gave separate attention to practical cooperation within the framework of the "Central Asia + Japan" Dialogue, emphasizing the importance of implementing the agreements reached following joint high-level meetings and summits.

In the context of strengthening political ties, the diplomats noted the high effectiveness of contacts between parliamentarians of the two countries, highlighting the important coordinating role of the interparliamentary friendship groups.

Moving on to the trade and economic bloc of issues, the meeting participants reviewed in detail the progress of joint investment projects. The interlocutors noted the high dynamics of partnership in such areas as the gas chemical industry, energy, and the transport and logistics sector. In this context, the key role of the Turkmen-Japanese and Japanese-Turkmen Committees on Economic Cooperation in advancing cooperation in priority sectors of the economy was emphasized.

Along with the economic vector, the parties focused attention on the importance of deepening humanitarian contacts. The interlocutors spoke in favor of continuing effective exchanges in the field of science and education, supporting programs for studying the Japanese language in Turkmenistan, and further expanding cultural dialogue between the peoples of the two countries.

At the conclusion of the consultations, the parties confirmed their unwavering commitment to comprehensively deepening the partnership and emphasized that regular interministerial meetings serve as an effective tool for developing new promising vectors of mutually beneficial cooperation.
