Turkmenistan and the European Association to hold the Akhal-Teke World Championship in the Netherlands

Efforts to elevate the international prestige of Akhal-Teke horses continue successfully in line with modern standards. On September 4–6, 2026, the World Championship in equestrian sports and beauty contest among Akhal-Teke horses will be held in the city of Kronenberg, Kingdom of the Netherlands. This prestigious event, to take place at the "Pilbergen" equestrian complex, will once again celebrate the beauty and athletic capabilities of Turkmen horses in Europe. The international event is co-organized by the "Turkmen Atlary" State Association and the European Akhal-Teke Horse Association. This was reported by the press service of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan.

In connection with this important event, a briefing dedicated to preparatory measures was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. This championship is being implemented within the framework of events held in the country in 2026 under the motto «Independent neutral Turkmenistan − the homeland of purposeful winged horses». The event will feature equestrian sports competitions, a beauty contest, a scientific conference, and a large-scale exhibition-fair reflecting Turkmen culture.

The first zone of the exhibition-fair will feature 7 special pavilions representing the country's ministries, sectoral departments, and members of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs. Accomplishments in breeding and preserving Akhal-Teke horses, along with samples of national textiles, carpets, regional jewelry, music, and sculpture arts will be showcased here. A special exposition of horse tack and national jewelry will also be presented to the guests.

The second and third zones of the exhibition are designated for championship celebrations and national ethnographic values. The second zone will house the main stage for ceremonies and winner awards. In the third zone, traditional white yurts, raised seating platforms (sekis), and clay ovens (tamdyrs) will be set up according to ancient customs, showcasing the cultural uniqueness of the country's five provinces, as well as the cities of Ashgabat and Arkadag.

The fourth and fifth zones of the event are designed for guest leisure and entertainment. The fourth zone will feature a dining area offering Turkmen national cuisine. The fifth zone will serve as an arena for the magnificent performances of the world-famous "Galkynysh" National Equestrian Games Group. It is worth recalling that earlier this year, this group was awarded special certificates for its outstanding contribution to circus art at the International Circus Festival in Monte Carlo.

An international scientific and practical conference titled "The Akhal-Teke Horse and World Art of Training" will also be held as part of the championship. Renowned scientists, horse trainers (seyises), and equestrian experts from all over the world will attend to discuss the scientific foundations of preserving the horses' gene pool and improving selection and genetic work. This event will elevate the fame of Turkmen equestrian art to new heights worldwide.
