On July 9, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Rashid Meredov, held a meeting with US Senator from the state of Montana, Steve Daines. During the talks, the parties assessed the current state of bilateral cooperation and exchanged views in detail on the prospects for further progressive development of relations in mutually beneficial areas. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
During the meeting, the consistent development of the political and diplomatic dialogue between Turkmenistan and the US was noted with satisfaction, and the importance of maintaining regular contacts at various levels was emphasized. In this regard, special importance was attached to high-level visits, which provide a new impetus to strengthening interstate cooperation. Particular attention was also paid to the development of interparliamentary relations as an effective tool for strengthening mutual understanding.
Trade and economic relations were also among the main areas of the meeting. The parties discussed the prospects for cooperation in the energy sector, as well as opportunities for intensifying relations in trade, investments, transport, and logistics. The important role of the "Turkmenistan – US" Business Council in expanding mutually beneficial relations between the business communities of the two countries was emphasized. At the end of the conversation, views were exchanged on key issues of the regional and international agenda, and the readiness to further develop a constructive dialogue was confirmed.
