On July 9, the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Hero-Arkadag, met with a member of the Committee on Energy and Natural Resources of the United States Senate, Senator from the State of Montana Steve Daines, who arrived in our country on a visit. This was reported by the State News Agency of Turkmenistan.

Having expressed gratitude for the time devoted to the meeting and the hospitality shown to the American delegation, the representative of the US Senate highly praised the level of socio-economic development of Turkmenistan, noting that it was a great honor for him to meet with the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty, a world-recognized experienced politician and wise Leader. Taking the opportunity, Senator Steve Daines conveyed to the National Leader of the Turkmen people warm words of greeting and best wishes from President Donald Trump.

Having thanked him for his kind words, Hero-Arkadag conveyed to the head of the USA reciprocal best wishes and expressed firm confidence that the current visit of the guest was intended to contribute to the development of productive dialogue between Turkmenistan and the United States of America. Taking the opportunity, the National Leader of the Turkmen people once again warmly congratulated Senator Steve Daines and the entire American people on the significant date — the 250th anniversary of the proclamation of US independence.

As was noted, Turkmenistan attaches special significance to the development of bilateral partnership based on mutual respect, trust, and mutual understanding. For many years, our countries have carried out effective interaction in the political-diplomatic, trade-economic, and cultural-humanitarian spheres.

Speaking about political-diplomatic relations, Hero-Arkadag noted with satisfaction that an active dialogue is maintained between the foreign policy agencies of the two states. This promotes a productive exchange of views on issues of ensuring peace, sustainable development, as well as on topical themes of the international agenda.

As was emphasized, Turkmenistan, being a state whose neutrality has been recognized three times by the United Nations Organization, is implementing a constructive policy on the international stage. Having confirmed our country's commitment to fruitful cooperation in the name of ensuring universal peace and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals in the Central Asian region, the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty expressed gratitude to the United States of America for its support of the policy of positive neutrality pursued by Turkmenistan.

In continuing the meeting, Senator Steve Daines placed emphasis on the active interaction of the two states within the framework of the UN. Having noted the special significance attached by Hero-Arkadag to the development of sport, in particular golf, the guest emphasized that there are very many enthusiasts of this sport in the USA.

In the course of the exchange of views on the priorities of Turkmen-American cooperation, the trade-economic sphere was identified as one of the main directions of partnership. In this context, the great contribution of the Turkmenistan-US Business Council to the realization of the economic potential of the two countries was noted. Emphasis was placed on the fact that for many years such major American companies as Boeing, General Electric, John Deere, and Case New Holland have been implementing effective and important projects in Turkmenistan.

Among the key vectors for the development of cooperation, the fuel-energy and transport-communications sectors were named. The advantageous geographical location and the presence of rich natural resources allow Turkmenistan to advance major projects of international significance.

As was noted, our country highly values the attention and support of the USA in matters of creating transport-transit corridors along the East-West and North-South routes, as well as the construction of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) transnational gas pipeline, which is promising for the region. In this regard, Hero-Arkadag expressed confidence that the implementation of this project would contribute to strengthening the economic stability, cooperation, and prosperity of the region.

Having noted the presence of enormous potential for implementing joint projects in the scientific-educational sphere, the National Leader of the Turkmen people confirmed our country's readiness for further combining of efforts aimed at the comprehensive expansion of intercultural dialogue.

As was emphasized, cultural programs, educational projects, and scientific interaction contribute to the study of the traditions, customs, and values of our peoples. Such partnership serves to establish mutual trust and respect, and promotes the successful development of diplomatic relations, said Hero-Arkadag, confirming Turkmenistan's commitment to the further expansion of long-term, multi-vector cooperation with the USA.

In concluding the meeting, the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Hero-Arkadag and the member of the Committee on Energy and Natural Resources of the United States Senate, Senator from the State of Montana Steve Daines wished each other good health, success in their work, and wished the peoples of Turkmenistan and the USA — peace and prosperity.
