The oil industry continues to develop steadily as one of the key sectors forming the backbone of Turkmenistan's national economy. Operations involving the discovery of new oil fields, extraction of raw materials, processing, and exporting to global markets reach great milestones year after year. The achievements in the sector are clearly reflected in specific figures: based on the results of January–June 2026, 4 million 129.8 thousand tons of oil were extracted in our country. This was reported by the "Nebit-gaz" newspaper.

The major portion of the oil extracted in Turkmenistan comes from the Western region, which encompasses the onshore territories of Balkan velayat, alongside the coastal zones and shelves of the Caspian Sea. Major onshore fields such as Goturdepe, Gumdag, Barsagelmez, Cheleken, and Nebitlije are actively developed here. Furthermore, foreign partners, including "Petronas" of Malaysia and "Dragon Oil" of the United Arab Emirates, actively participate in developing the offshore fields in the Turkmen sector of the Caspian Sea.

The nation has established comprehensive conditions not only for raw material extraction but also for its refining and the production of high-quality goods. Extracted crude oil is converted into finished products at the Turkmenbashi Complex of Oil Refineries and the Seidi Oil Refinery. Compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, 2025, the production of diesel fuel increased by 0.7 percent, lubricating oils by 7.2 percent, petroleum bitumen by 39.9 percent, and liquefied petroleum gas by 64.5 percent.

Presently, oil and petroleum products produced in Turkmenistan are regularly exported to countries such as China, Turkey, the Republic of Korea, Iran, and Afghanistan. To deliver high-quality finished export products to consumers quickly and reliably, the capabilities of the Turkmenbashi International Seaport, which offers modern logistics services, are being further expanded.
