Within the framework of the working visit of the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Ahmet Gurbanov, to Indonesia, a meeting was held with his counterpart, Muhammad Anis Matta. The diplomats discussed the prospects of bilateral relations as well as regional agenda items. The parties emphasized that regular political consultations serve as an effective mechanism for strengthening bilateral cooperation and friendly dialogue. The productive interaction between Turkmenistan and the United Nations (UN) was highly praised, and the parties reaffirmed their full readiness to further support each other's international peace and development initiatives. Furthermore, Turkmenistan's keen interest in developing relations with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) was highlighted, and views were exchanged on the vital significance of the initiative to establish the "Central Asia + ASEAN" dialogue format, which aims to elevate interregional cooperation to a qualitatively new level.
Expanding trade and economic relations was one of the key focus areas of the meeting. Representatives of the two countries noted that there is a vast, untapped economic potential for increasing the volume of mutual trade turnover, actively attracting investments, and implementing joint investment projects across various sectors, stressing the necessity of unlocking these opportunities.
In addition, attention was drawn to the need for further deepening cultural and humanitarian ties. It was noted that strengthening cooperation in areas such as education, science, culture, sports, and tourism will further reinforce the bridges of friendship between the two nations. In this regard, the parties expressed their full readiness to establish direct contacts between higher education institutions, research facilities, and cultural centers, as well as to implement joint scientific and educational projects.
