The Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Japan, Atadurdy Bayramov, held a meeting with the President of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Akihiko Tanaka. During the conversation, the parties highly praised the progressive development of bilateral relations, noting the special significance of the constructive high-level negotiations held in Tokyo in April and December 2025. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
Within the framework of the meeting, the interlocutors discussed in detail the current results and promising new areas of interaction between Turkmenistan and the Japan International Cooperation Agency. Special emphasis was placed on the implementation of ongoing technical cooperation programs, the training of personnel in the field of hydrogen energy in cooperation with the University of Tsukuba, and the promotion of the successful «One Village, One Product» (OVOP) initiative to support local entrepreneurship.
In addition, the sides outlined ways to expand long-term partnership in such strategically important areas as digital transformation, the introduction of artificial intelligence technologies, the modernization of healthcare, and human capital development. Great importance during the talks was attached to strengthening bilateral contacts in the field of sustainable development, as well as expanding trade, industrial, cultural, and tourism exchanges.
