Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Ahmet Gurbanov participated in the 13th meeting of the «European Union – Central Asia» High-Level Dialogue on Foreign and Security Policy, held in Brussels. The meeting participants discussed key aspects of regional security, border management, countering modern threats, and developing transport and logistics connectivity. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
In his address, the representative of Turkmenistan emphasized the importance of the «Central Asia–European Union» format for the sustainable development of the region and for strengthening trust between states based on political and diplomatic mechanisms under the auspices of the UN. Turkmenistan's commitment to further improving joint security programs, including the CADAP and BOMCA projects, was reaffirmed.
Within the framework of the visit, Ahmet Gurbanov held a series of bilateral meetings. During talks with the EU Special Envoy for Afghanistan, Gilles Bertrand, the parties discussed the coordination of humanitarian assistance to the Afghan people and the implementation of transboundary energy projects. The prospects of partnership under the EU's Global Gateway initiative, the development of the Trans-Caspian Transport Corridor, and cooperation in the fields of renewable energy and methane emissions reduction were the main topics of the Turkmen Deputy Foreign Minister's meeting with the Deputy Secretary-General for Political Affairs of the European External Action Service, Olof Skoog.
