The new UN Resident Coordinator in Turkmenistan has assumed her duties

Meetings were held in Ashgabat with the newly appointed Resident Coordinator of the United Nations in Turkmenistan, Xiaojun Grace Wang. The new head of the UN mission was received by President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and also held talks with Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov. This was reported by an online newspaper «Turkmenistan: Golden age».

During the audience with the Head of State, Xiaojun Grace Wang presented her credentials to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and conveyed warm greetings from UN Secretary-General António Guterres. The President of Turkmenistan congratulated the diplomat on her appointment, emphasizing that multifaceted cooperation with the United Nations remains a top priority of the country's foreign policy course. The meeting covered a wide range of issues, including the implementation of the Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework for 2026–2030, ensuring regional security, addressing climate change, and advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Earlier, a meeting between the Resident Coordinator and Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The foreign minister accepted copies of the credentials and congratulated the representative of the international organization on assuming her post in Ashgabat. The sides reviewed key areas of interaction, noting the successful operation of the «Turkmenistan – UN» Strategic Advisory Council and the high effectiveness of joint programs in the economic, environmental, and social spheres.

For her part, Xiaojun Grace Wang expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and assured that she would make every effort to further strengthen the strategic partnership between Turkmenistan and the United Nations.
