A regular meeting of the National Commission of Turkmenistan for UNESCO was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

During the meeting, the results of activities for the first half of 2026 were reviewed, and pressing issues regarding the further improvement of work on the implementation of Turkmenistan's initiatives and obligations within the framework of cooperation with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) were discussed.

The meeting participants noted the importance of the consistent development of interaction with UNESCO, aimed at strengthening international cooperation in the fields of education, science, culture, preservation of historical and cultural heritage, and promotion of national values of Turkmenistan in the international arena.

Special attention was paid to the issues of expanding cooperation with the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) in connection with Turkmenistan's official acquisition of observer state status with this organization. Within the framework of the discussion, promising directions and mechanisms for further interaction with ICESCO were considered.

During the meeting, priority tasks for the further strengthening of Turkmenistan's international cooperation with authoritative international organizations were also defined, and directions of work for the upcoming period were outlined.
