The Ambassador of Turkmenistan to the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Sapar Palvanov, met in Hague with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands, Director-General for Political Affairs Joost Flamand. The main focus of the talks was the preparation for the World Championship in Equestrian Sports and Beauty among Akhalteke Horses, scheduled to take place in September 2026 at the «Peelbergen» Equestrian Centre in Limburg province. This was reported by a press service of the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Belgium.
The upcoming tournament will be the first international competition of this scale for Akhalteke horses ever held outside Turkmenistan.
During the negotiations, the diplomats also reviewed prospects for expanding bilateral partnership. The parties discussed the possibility of holding a Turkmen-Dutch business forum in The Hague to boost trade and economic ties, and exchanged views on cooperation in water resource management and the implementation of water-saving technologies.
Additionally, the Ambassador held a separate meeting with the Head of the High-Level Events Unit of the Protocol Department at the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Bob Aal, to address organizational and technical matters. The Dutch side confirmed its readiness to provide full support in preparing for the championship and the visits of high-level delegations.
