The Government of the Republic of Nicaragua has decided to join the Group of Friends of Neutrality for Peace, Security and Sustainable Development, established on the initiative of Turkmenistan under the auspices of the United Nations. With the accession of Nicaragua, the coalition has expanded to 30 Member States. This was reported by the press service of the Permanent Mission of Turkmenistan to the UN.

Established in 2020, the Group serves as an international platform to foster multilateral dialogue on preventive diplomacy, mediation, and the peaceful settlement of disputes. The association regularly holds meetings of Permanent Representatives in New York, as well as annual ministerial meetings, to develop joint approaches toward strengthening global security. Nicaragua's accession underscores the growing international interest in Turkmen initiatives aimed at promoting a culture of peace and the institution of neutrality.
