The delegation of Turkmenistan, led by Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Ovezgeldi Kakalyev, participated in a high-level meeting of the United Nations General Assembly on improving global road safety, held as part of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly in New York.

During the 104th plenary meeting, the head of the Turkmen delegation delivered a national statement highlighting that ensuring road safety is a priority of the state policy of the President of Turkmenistan. The address detailed ongoing measures to comprehensively modernize transport infrastructure, introduce modern digital technologies for traffic management, and enhance international cooperation to share best practices and reduce traffic accidents. Following the session, the UN General Assembly adopted a Declaration of Progress, reaffirming the global target to reduce road traffic deaths and injuries by at least 50 percent by 2030.
