The further modernization of the library system of Turkmenistan, the implementation of digital technologies, and the creation of a unified electronic network are among the key tasks set by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov. The main guide for this effort is the «State Program for the Development of the Library Sphere of Turkmenistan for 2025–2029,» under which digital library collections are being systematically expanded. This was reported by an online newspaper «Turkmenistan: Golden age».

The implementation of the program aims to enhance the quality of library services, broaden citizen access to educational resources, and strengthen the role of the cultural sector in the country's development. Today, readers have open access to extensive digital collections of classic, scientific, educational, and children's literature.

According to statistics, there is a steady growth in the number of users of the electronic library ekitap.gov.tm — the digital platform of the State Library of the State Cultural Centre of Turkmenistan. The platform operates on the legal basis of Article 11 of the Law of Turkmenistan «On Libraries and Library Affairs.» The website features thematic sections with copyright-protected materials, with the works of the National Leader of the Turkmen People Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President Serdar Berdimuhamedov traditionally being in highest demand.
