On July 27, 2026, a meeting between the co-chairs of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Iranian Commission on Economic Cooperation—Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and Minister of Roads and Urban Development of the Islamic Republic of Iran Farzaneh Sadegh Malvajerd—took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

During the talks, the parties reviewed the current state and prospects for developing cooperation both bilaterally and within authoritative international organizations, primarily the UN. The Iranian side congratulated Turkmenistan on the adoption of the UN General Assembly resolution «International Law Year, 2028,» initiated by Turkmenistan and co-authored by Iran.

The participants discussed trade and economic issues, emphasizing the importance of strengthening the role of the Intergovernmental Commission, and reaffirmed their mutual commitment to the consistent expansion of partnership across all key areas.
